Wedding Wednesday: Bride Spotlight
Welcome back to another Wedding Wednesday post! I've been loving these bride spotlights and can't wait to continue to introduce you to new brides-to-be. This week our spotlight is on our girl Jessy. We met through Instagram since we both follow Tone It Up. Jessy is a Texas girl and I had the pleasure of finally meeting her a couple of weeks ago. She is bubbly, quirky and an all around sweetheart, and I'm so excited for you to learn more about her and her wedding journey!
Tell us your name and where you’re from: I'm Jessy from Allen, TX.
How long have you and your significant other been together? Matt and I have been together for 8.5 years now (I made him ask me to be his girlfriend on February 3rd, 2011).
How did you two meet? We met on Match.com. Match used to give you a daily top 5 possible candidates and he ended up as one in early January 2011.
How did he propose? We have this tradition he does at every beach we visit of making a heart in the sand with our initials in the center and the location / year on the sides of the heart. He popped the question in Myrtle Beach on July 8, 2019 by keeping with our traditional heart instead he wrote in the center "Will you marry me?". While he was drawing this out I was walking the beach looking for shells, Matt called me over to check out the heart as he always does, and that's when I read it. I instantly looked at him with tears in my eyes asking "Are you serious?" He was standing there holding this beautiful heart-shaped diamond ring and I started crying. He gave me a big hug along with a reply "So will you?... lol I forgot to say YES!
When and where is your wedding? We will be getting married on June 13, 2020 in Denton, TX.
Favorite part of planning this far? I am loving that I get to be creative, doing so many DIY projects and making list to stay on top of everything I have planned on my secret Pinterest board. Only my mom is allowed to see but not allowed to pin anything to it. I want to keep it clean and to only the things I want to do for our wedding.
Color scheme or theme of wedding? Color Scheme: Keeping with light / deep purples, greens, light pinks, whites, maroon, dark gold and copper. Our main flower is lavender and the theme is simple/classic coastal with a rustic garden feel.
How many bridesmaids do you have? I will have 7 very important ladies who will be my bridesmaids they have played an important role and still currently throughout my life. I had a long list of over 14 possible beautiful ladies who I would love to stand up there with me on my day. I definitely say this was one of the hardest decisions to make.
How did you pop the question to your girls Since 6 out of 7 all live in Missouri, where I am originally from, I just called or texted them asking the question "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" once I figure out how many groomsmen Matt wanted and once our date was narrowed down.
Have you had your bachelorette party yet? No, not yet.
Where are you going on your honeymoon? We are currently looking at cruises because Matt has never been on one and we travel a lot, but the honeymoon trip might not happen till August.
What are you looking forward to most day of? That I finally get to marry my love!! Been waiting patiently for at least 6 years for this day.
Any advice for brides who are currently planning? Ask all the questions!! I have been reaching out to all my of soon to be brides and married #tiudfwbabes asking for advice, recommendations, lists and ideas. Don't be afraid to say no to ideas from others. Yes, listen to them because it might be something you didn't think of, but if it's something you know you don't want don't be afraid to say no, thank you. Don't forget to include the groom and his family in on the planning fun! They are just as excited as you and your family too! I have been keep them in the loop, sending photos, ideas and inviting them to appointments. I always ask Matt if he likes the ideas that come to me (It's Our Wedding not just mine); and to help with the stress I have been putting him in charge of contacting vendors as well. I also recommend touring your possible venues too, bring some ladies with you to help with asking questions. Best advice is get started ASAP, stay organized, assign tasks to those who want to help, game plan and set a goal when you want your plans to be done. Mine is 2 months before the big day since I can enjoy my time leading up, not stress and able to tend to any last minute stuff.
Jessy, I am so excited for you and Matt and can remember the day you two got engaged! I opened up my Instagram and it was the first thing I saw. Even though we hadn't met at that point, all I wanted to do was give you the biggest hug and congratulate you! I know your wedding day is going to be a dream, full of all the DIY crafts (Jessy is SUPER talented when it comes to crafting) and so much love. Wishing you and Matt all of the happiness in the world!!
