#TIU31 Week One Check-In

Hiiii babes!!! Happy Meal Prep Sunday!! As we all start getting ready for Week 2 of the Fall Challenge we wanted to take a moment to reflect back on Week 1.

Nutrition:

Most of us prepped for week one just about a week ago and whether you followed the weekly Nutrition Plan to a T or not, it’s pretty safe to say that the new Fall recipes are to die for!!

This week I made the Hearty Kale Salad and Carrot Orange Kombucha Muffins off the new plan while incorporating some of my old TIU favorites and recipes off here. The Kombucha Muffins are absolutely a new favorite or mine and ones I will most definitely be making year round!! I spruced mine up a bit by adding a hint of nutmeg and some walnuts for an extra crunch! They were the perfect additions. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Sarah prepped the Pumpkin Muffins, Fall in Love with Kale Salad and Pumpkin Chia Seed Pudding. The  Fall in Love with Kale Salad is an absolute favorite of hers and has been a favorite since the 21-Day challenge last fall. She has it on a heavy rotation and makes it at least once a month. Pro Tip for Sarah: prep shredded chicken to top the salads with. You can bake it or marinate it and cook it in a slow cooker on low. As for the pumpkin chia seed pudding, she was a bit skeptical because she prefers pumpkin purée when it’s cooked BUT must to her dismay, she is in LOVE. She topped it with Enjoy Life Dairy-Free Dark Chocolate chips for a little added sweetness! I on the other hand, don’t like it. It’s a texture thing for me but that’s what’s great about the Nutrition Plan, you can customize it to your own tastes and preferences!!!

Workouts:

First can we talk about the monthly calendar?!? We both are planners and very type A so being able to get a bird’s eye view of the entire challenge is great for us!! Sarah has a very hectic October work schedule so this is even more of a win for her than it is for me! But having the monthly calendar has really helped the both of us schedule our workouts around life — work, events, trips,

classes ain’t gonna stop us from getting it done! I have the Calendar printed on my board at work and saved as my phone’s wallpaper (you can find it at the bottom of this post and under templates on my Instagram account) so I literally have access to it and when ever I need it! And Sarah has it printed and hung in her workout area and has it saved to her photos on her phone. This is going to be so useful during week 2 as she has a 6-day event and will probably be getting in some office workouts!

We are also absolutely loving the new look and feel of Studio Tone It Up!! With all the new classes, new daily moves and new Studio Class Cards there’s just too much not to be excited about!! And how cute are the new “class passes” that you get at the end of the workouts? We are loving the ever changing and evolving Studio.

Before we kicked off this week, Karena and Katrina emphasized taking Class 3-4 times a week, then focusing on the Daily Moves the other days throughout the Challenge and we HIGHLY recommend sticking to that rule of thumb if you are new to Tone It Up. Classes can definitely be challenging and 31 reps is A LOT for someone who is new to working out but since Sarah and I have been apart of the community for a little bit the two of us have opted to do both the Daily Moves and Class most days of the week. If you want to take class with us you can almost always find us in the Studio at 6:30 a.m EST.

Week One workouts were all about that strength training and definitely left us feeling the burn early on!! I don’t know about you but my arms and shoulders were burning by the end of the day Monday after the Daily Moves and Chyna’s Chest & Back Sculpt!! The rest of the week was just about the same mixing in total body, booty and a bit of cardio to the mix.

Our favorite workout for the week had to be Karena’s new Total Body Tone + Flow class! It was just the right amount of time (not too long or short) and hit all the target muscles while incorporating various workout types - a little weights, some cardio, yoga and abs. The both of us will definitely be coming back to this workout often!

Accountability:

Wednesday night Sarah came over for a little Wine Not Wednesday (mostly Kombucha) and girl time!! It was so great to connect and talk about our first week of the challenge together!

Having an Accountability Partner is one of the best things you can do during a challenge and throughout the rest of your fitness journey. She is going to be there to motivate you, workout with you and support you!! Sarah and I check-in with each other daily and always take class with each other! She is such a huge motivator for me and simply knowing that she is in class with me is all the motivation I need to get my butt out of bed in the morning!!!

Being able to spend a little extra quality girl time last week was just what we both needed. We talked about our journeys, life, the new workouts and everything in between.

Overall Week 1 was a huge success for us and feeling a tiny bit sore but a whole lot stronger! How was Week 1 for you all?!? Let us know below and feel free to drop us some suggestions on what you want to see in next week’s recap.

Happily Yours,

Ash & Sarah
