Leaves are Falling & the new Autumn Challenge is Calling


Happy October 1st! Does anyone else looooove October as much as we do? The crisp fall air, the leaves changing color, all the pumpkin, and Halloween makes this month one of the best of the year. Now that it's the first of the month, that also means that the new TIU 31 Day Challenge is here!

For us, this challenge holds a very special place in both of our hearts. Last year, we were both chosen along with 19 other women as the winners of the TIU 21 Day Challenge. This challenged changed everything for both of us. If it weren't for Tone it Up and this fall challenge, we may not have formed the friendship that we have today.

With the new challenge and new month, we both have new sets of goals. Setting goals is one of the most important things you can for yourself during these challenges. By doing so, you are keeping yourself accountable to ensure you are successful. You can post them on Instagram, make a pretty list and keep it in your workout space or workplace, or simply by keeping a note on your phone. Goals are what keep us going and push us to be our best selves. Today, we are sharing our goals for the challenge with you!

Ashley:

Could this quote be more true?!? I have always felt like Autumn or October is more of a beginning than an end. For me, especially since my birthday arrives just in time for fall, it’s a season of new beginnings and what better way to kick off October & Fall than with a new challenge?!? Unlike Sarah, things slow down for me this time of year but that doesn’t mean I don’t need to keep myself accountable because let’s be honest this summer and the birthday indulgences have left me feeling “bleh!” Here are my goals for the next 31 days:

  1. Nutrition- I have been enjoying all the things as of late and need a reboot on my nutrition!! Thank god for the New TIU Plan and all the fall recipes because I am ready to get back on track and stick to the plan more than ever!! And don’t forget we have some great new recipes (I’ll be adding more over the next 31 days) you can use here as well!

  2. Hydration - When my nutrition goes to the way side, so does my water intake and I have been feeling its effects. Dull skin, feeling sluggish and craving all the bad food!! So here’s to drinking all the agua babes! Aiming for at least 100 Oz. a day. Who’s with me?!?

  3. Yoga & Stretching - My yoga practice took a back burner this summer while I was focusing on toning up and enjoying the summer weather. I recently joined a local Hot Yoga Studio and am committing myself to 1 day a week there and 1 day of flow in the App.

On top of that I NEED to stretch more. I’ve been dealing with some minor injuries which are totally related to lack of stretching and cool down post class. So my goal is to take 5-10 minutes everyday to stretch post bootycall.

  1. Limit Screen Time - Okay #realtalk Instagram has taken over my life. SERIOUS #tiugirlproblems but I just freaking adore this Community and all my girls sooo much that I love checking in as much as possible. With that being said I need to be more present in my daily life and not attached to my phone. I recently disabled Instagram Notifications to help combat this issue and am making it a goal to start putting my phone in a completely different room once bae is home from work so that we can get more face time and less screen time!!

  2. Get outdoors - It’s only fall, and I intend to enjoy the cooler days and sunshine as much as I can before the winter hits New England (which let’s be real could be by the end of October). That means doing all the falls things (apple picking, corn mazes, pumpkin picking) and taking Espn out for all the walks!!

Sarah:

Hi babes! I love setting goals, especially sharing them on Instagram. This helps keep me accountable and also helps me connect with other girls in the community. This challenge for me is going to be a little modified as October is SUCH a busy month for me at work. Because of this, I'll be using my goals to get me through the month and help me be the most successful during these next 31 days.

  1. Stay 100% on track with nutrition- Lately I've been the #snackqueen, so I'm making it a point to not waver from the nutrition plan. By meal prepping and pre-packing my food, I'll set myself up for success when it comes to this goal.

  2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate- I have a little post it taped to my computer screen at work that simply says "HYDRATE" (and yes, it's in all capital letters!) This is such a good reminder for me since it's always in my line of view. I'm aiming to get at least 72 oz. of water a day; who's with me?!

  3. Be active- I may not be able to get all of my Studio TIU workouts in, but I plan on keeping my body moving at work. Next week will probably be the one that's affected the most since I'm working five 12-hour days and one 14-hour day, but during that week I plan on getting my steps in (goal is 10,000+ per day) and possibly getting my daily moves in.

  4. Journal- I've been really bad at this. I always say I'm going to journal each challenge that we have, but I never actually get around to doing it. This time it's out to the world so I'm sticking to it! Even if I don't get it in every day, I'm still going to aim for 3-4 times a week.

  5. Be present- I've talked about this before, but so often we can get caught up by what is on those tiny little screens of ours. I'm going to make it a point to give myself limited time on my phone when I get home from work so I can be more present and enjoy what is taking place in front of me, rather that what is on a screen.
